AT THREE YEARS

The traditional memories of parenthood which are recorded photographically are the birthdays, the first this, the first that. Important as these are the small scenes of childhood activity and small details are, for me at least, more poignant; reminders of the day to day, of life as it is lived. This series is personal to my daughter at various points in her fourth year but they will no doubt be familiar to many parents, and the fact she is absent from the images makes them a portrait of childhood in general as much as of her.
